Upcycled Brindille & Twig Hoodie!

Isn’t it just the cutest hoodie you ever did see ♥  Made from one and a bit Men’s T-shirts would you believe!!!

First things first, this awesome pattern belongs to Brindille & Twig of www.brindilletwig.com, they have many other lovely patterns over there!  Here is the link to the Free Hoodie Pattern blog post.

As usual I mixed it up a little and colour blocked the hood, rather than lining with a contrast colour (which also looks great!).  The hood lining is all light grey, which is the same fabric I used for the raglan sleeve arm detail.Brindille & Twig Hoodie (1)

This is the not so lovely 4XL Men’s T-Shirt it all started from!  I bought this from a local second hand shop (it was new), because I loved the fabric.  It is a cotton knit with the rib stripes knitted into it.  It was nice an thick and perfect children’s hoodie weight.

I didn’t take a photo of the second T-Shirt (as with my usual impatience I had already cut it to pieces, if you look carefully you can see I had started on this one already too!) but it was a thicker than standard cotton, regular old grey marle tee.

It didn’t have as much stretch as the first one but still had a little give.  Hence I didn’t use it for the waistband.  I had some matching grey marle ribbing still floating around for that.  I won’t spoil the fun with all the construction details, you can get them over at Brindille & Twig!

It sure was a hit with Harry!  I like it this much Mum!

And from a Mum’s perspective it has a great fit, nice and long including in the arms too.  Harry has just turned 5 but is very tall (119cm/47”).  I made the pattern one size larger than the 5-6 size but even that would have fit him fine.  This way however he has a bit of room to grow in it.  Who knows we may even get next winter out of it…I doubt it but maybe!

I liked it so much I just had to share it with you!  So thank you Brindille & Twig for this pattern it is going to be well loved.  You better get over there and check them out!
