I have been wanting to sew a pair of these Movie Night Pajamas by Sew a Little Seam for quite a while now. Since Christmas is just around the corner and Hannah needed more summer PJs I though it was high time to move them to the top of the to do list. I wish I had a few pictures of Hannah in these for you. But it will have to wait till after Christmas morning! Check out my Instagram for those.
Where do I get the Movie Night Pajamas pattern?
Movie night pajamas are a pattern from Sew a Little Seam. They are currently free check out the link on her product page. The pattern has a nice broad size range from 12m to 12 years. I did need to join her Facebook page to get the free pattern. That really was just a bonus as you get to see what everyone else is making with her Movie Night Pajamas and other patterns.
I went for the regular short sleeves and shorts…yes it is summer here! I used red ribbing for the neckline as a contrast and to help highlight the red of Mickey’s tongue. These really could be unisex and maybe Harry will wear them once Hannah outgrows them…but I doubt he will want her hand me downs. For the hems on both the sleeves and legs I just folded under and zigzagged. Not the most professional finish but quick and easy.
To make a feature of the Mickey Mouse print I used it only on the front top of the Movie Night Pajamas. The rest is all this navy blue and white stripe knit. For the waist band on the shorts I did not create a casing as in the instructions. Instead I overlocked the elastic in like I usually do, tutorial here and here.
Overall the Movie Night Pajamas are an excellent free pattern and great for people starting out with knit fabrics. Obviously it is excellent value for money (FREE!!!) and you get to join a great community on facebook too.
